Forums Updated with LOTS of New Features

by @ 11:23 am on 3/21/2001. Filed under Forums

Just a quick note to point out that I updated our forums last night, which added several new features, including poll threads, avatars for users, thread ratings, much faster response, and a community calendar which i will possibly create a menu item for as well. Also, In the next few weeks there will be some work done on the user system to integrate the two sections of our site, so be prepared. Finally, I have added a new banner management system, so we will be announcing custom advertising plans in the near future, for those of you who have asked. You can vote on and discuss the changes to our forums here.

I like the new lookand features a lot, but I tried to reply to a post with Opera 5.01 in Windows and it locked right up after the reply screen loaded. Worked just fine it IE5. I can’t test it in BeOS as I am at work.

    Re: Nice

I think it could involve the javascript spell check button. I left it in for people w/ javascript browsers, but i may have to remove it if its the issue. I know it works in net and Opera3 in BeOS. I will look into it further.

    Very cool!

Very nice, Nutcase. So is this the new ground-up forum, or is that still down the road?

I like the new look BTW.

this is not a custom forum. Its vBulletin 2.0 beta 3. Just an upgrade. The ground up forum will probably not happen for a long time. One day I am gonna code a system from scratch based on what I have learned on BeGroovy 2.0. It will be a slash or scoop style system, but for an entire portal site, using modules, etc. It will probably be GPL’ed… but i may sell it. In any case, BeGroovy 3.0 will be that system, and will have custom forums. But its a long way off. 😛
