When R1 Arrives R2 Will Not Be Far Behind

by @ 6:42 pm on 7/17/2008. Filed under Haiku

As the incredible coders work towards that elusive R1 of Haiku, others are diligently working on some of the foundations of R1.  DarkWyrm has let out “a little secret” about what he is working on for R2 and you can find it here.  As excited as we are about Haiku R1, we here at BeGroovy are pretty excited about the prospects of R2 and beyond as well!

That window shot frankly doesn’t say much of anything at all, so I’m disappointed!

    It doesn’t:

    1. Show what the GUI is expected to look like
    2. Show anything that’s really new for what’s supported for preferences in R1
    3. Give any hint as to what sort of new views are supposed to exist
    4. Give any clue as to proposed API changes

And of course, there’s always the proper context to keep in mind: no single person has full control over what will eventually end up in R2, and there’s limits as to what will end up even in R1 🙂 Or, in other words: whatever is posted here is a graphic example of wishful thinking that may not make it beyond his system and into general circulation 😛

Wishful thinking would have been a mock-up of the Project-X IDE. BTW, how is that coming along? 😉
