Adamation

Adamation has recently launched their first annual personalStudio Video Awards. Prizes include having your film shown at the San Francisco Independent Film Festival, a trip for two to Sundance 2002, a HP machine w/ personalStudio 2.0 (windows…ick), and/or a Sony digital video camera. In otherwords, it’s a hell of a competition. Read the rules at their site, and get started! Good luck!

Damn good way to show of the talent of the Be community.

Think Adamation is on the right track here. Lets get as many BeOS users as we can lined up for this one, time to get vocal guys and show the world that this OS IS the one that can.

    Get a head start

The reason why Adamation hasn’t yet promoted this contest broadly is because we want to get 2.0 for Windows out first. We’re working very hard on that, but the cool thing for BeOS 1.5 users is that they have access to the application *now*. Once 2.0 for Windows is out, BeOS users will have a lot of competition (because there will be thousands of times the number of pS/Win users as there are pS/Be users) (hopefully). But if you get started on your project now, you’ve got more lead time than they will have.

In case you’re wondering, pS 2.0 for Windows won’t have a ton of features that 1.5 for BeOS doesn’t have. The version change reflects a rewritten codebase and the Windows port more than anything. So the contest won’t be unfair in that regard.

The current plan is to ship the BeOS 2.0 version a little while after the Windows 2.0 version, though I can’t name any dates just yet.

    Go to it!

Will the BeOS version of pS2.0 be the same as the Win version or will it have a little more?

Good luck to everyone that tries out.

yup. but they called it first annual. thus we called it first annual. blame them, not us. I was mortified by the horrid use of language they displayed. ;P

    Re: [No Subject]

It will be largely the same, functionally speaking.

Please don’t quote me on this, but it looks like the BeOS version will be faster, while the Windows version will support more capture hardware and more cameras.

The 2.0 codebase on all platforms is going to be much faster than the 1.5 codebase. That means that when the Windows 2.0 version comes out, it will appear to be faster than the BeOS version. When the BeOS 2.0 version comes out, it should be faster than the Win version at most operations.

But until they’re both out there and in the market, it’s all speculative.

The usual caveats and disclaimers apply to anything I say here.

Yeah yeah yeah… we debated on that before posting, believe me ;) . In the end, we went with “common parlance” and favored an easy read over nit-picky exactitude.

    another way

There’s always animation. Draw some pics up in Becasso. Then put them together in pS! As for exporting to media… either burn it on CD-R or copy the file onto a zip disk.
