BeZilla

Well, BeZilla has made great progress recently, and just keeps going. Up until now it has been very hard to follow their work because the build process was difficult, and consumed lots of time and resources. Solving that problem is Wade Majors, who is posting daily builds of BeZilla on his site. So if you get bored and feel like seeing what point it is at, now its much easier. Mozilla is a huge project, and the progress being made is very encouraging. I urge you to support the BeZilla dev’s any way you can, because a modern browser is a pretty big need right now. Way to go BeZilla team and Wade!

    Big “Atta-Boys” to these guys!

I’m sure I won’t be the only one to say this, but these guys doing all this work are great. Phenominal.

My sincerest thanks for all your hard work (not just to Wade but everyone working on BeZilla!)

    package/ ?

When I downloaded it, all that was in the archive was the package/ directory. Anyone manage to grab the whole thing?

Hey, if you haven’t checked it out yet it’s working quite well. It’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it is actually usable for browsing if you’re not in a rush. :-)

Mozilla’s coming along pretty well. At this point, speed is not terribly good, but that’s because it’s more critical to make sure the thing actually works first. Once the functionality is there, the time will come to pull out the debugging code and work on speeding it up. Mozilla in *nix and win32 has gotten progressively faster with every new release.

You can strip BeZilla for a slight speed increase. From your mozilla directory:

    strip -g –strip-all *.so
    strip -g –strip-all *.so.stub
    cd components
    strip -g –strip-all *.so
    strip -g –strip-all *.so.stub

This is already done during the package process, and is compiled with no debugging

I acually download it from Argentina, and it works fairly good, a little bit slow, so far no sound, you can’t download anything but for surfing the net it work pretty good, when finished shud be the best for BeOS in the sence its more complete than any of the existing browsers…Thats all for now…

With the latest builds you should be able to download, as file panels have been added.

    BeZilla…

Just wanted to express some congratulation to the BeZilla team on all their work. Itís good to see people making such an effort to produce a hardcore browsing package for BeOS.

    Keep it up!

i think its great that you guys are doing this but why not develope something thats native to beos? mozzila is slow! not even worth using its so slow in linux, windows, mac, and even beos. People may use it for a min or so but they realize that its slow as hell so they just go back to there regular like IE or N or so… i just believe this project is a waste of time people may download it but will they use it? i doubt it
