Submitted by RepairmanJack (I’m posting a little late, but better than never):

Acording to multiple sources (National Public Radio, CNN, USA Today, and others), the Nation of Brazil is going to discontinue the use of the MS Windows Operating system on all of it’s government computers. According to sources, Brazil intends to switch to NON-proprietary software to better control and protect its data. This is raising a major stir in Redmond, leading Bill Gates to lobby for a meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. As if kicking the monopolistic software company off government computers is not enough, Brazil also intends to push its citizens to switch.

My editorial additive content:

I think BGA should be lobbying for a meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. :P

LOL seems like everyone’s getting sick&tired of M$ these days, too bad the Linux faction is so better poised to benifit from this than the scattered mess BeOS has become. The most usable BeOS ATM out there remains R5,The open source Haiku BeOS is nowhere close to a full release, and the Dano clones(Zeta,PhOS) are all painted into corners, due to lack of real source code and legality issues,So my bet is if Brazil goes open source it’s gonna be Linux or BSD.Shame that it is ’cause I really love BeOS and rreally do wish it to be on the world stage for OS dominance
