Stargate SG-1 Game progress update.

by @ 9:02 am on 1/18/2005. Filed under Playin' Games

This is old info that I wanted to post a while back regarding some updates on the Stargate SG-1 game for BeOS that’s being developed.

Starting with the latest news from the site first, currently the binaries and source code for the game have been updated and are available for download from the download section of the site. Remember that you need SDL in order to play the game, you can find that over at Bebits if you don’t have it.

There’s progress on the networking features of the game. The server currently accepts connections from the client through the network class named VNetXXX. The server can create and properly exit TCP and UDP connections. On the client side, connecting to the server works. There’s still a lot of work to be done on the messaging system, but already you can send any VMessage across the network. The networking code is available in the CVS for those interested in taking a closer look.

Also, Aries Mu (Xavier) joined the project as a graphics artist to help draw and design parts of the game, the characters, etc.

If you haven’t seen the project yet, head on over to their homepage to check out the screenshots.
