Interview

In a very fitting end to WalterCon…

Elvis spotted near WalterCon, chauffered away by his 9 year old grandson!

7 of the remaining attendants were at Chi Chi’s for dinner. On our way out, Elvis walked out wearing a sleeve-less blue plaid flannel. His hair hasn’t changed at all over the years, although his face has aged and he has put on a little weight.

He walked out, and an old oldsmobile drove up and he got in the car - driven by what couldn’t have been more than a 9 year old boy!

He didn’t respond to questions, and when asked what his opinion on the name Haiku, he stated “I’m all shook up”.

Well, okay, up until that last paragragh is true. :)

It was a great time, and I think we’ve all made some lifelong friends. :) I look forward to see everyone again next year sportin’ their spankin’ new Haiku laptops!

    I had a great time.

Of all I learned, 2 things stand out:

    1. Don’t let Michael Phipps drive.

    2.Don’t drink the water.

  2. Deej Says:

Yeah, that water sorta messed me up too - course, that could’ve been friday night out’s beer. :)

I had a great time too. Nice to meet some people in person that I’d communicated for years with via text only.

I don’t know about Michael’s driving, but I do know his vehicle is dent resistant…

    Forgot to add:

Damnit! I missed Elvis? That dude owes me $20!

  5. Kev Says:

    It was great meeting everyone.

We only missed Elvis? Okay, that’s not so bad. At least they didn’t unveal PhotoShop 2005 for Java running with native widgets Jace. ;)

It was really a shame that no one had a camera when we saw Elvis. It was really great getting to meet everyone and I hope to see more people next year.

  7. Deej Says:

In another late entry that you all missed (except those of use that hung out one more night):

There was a real live demonstration of the capabilities and real life usefulness of the new media kit. We were trying to watch movies on the projector via Andrew’s box. We didn’t have an audio cable for sound, so we cut up a pair of headphones. Unfortunately, we could only get one channel working with our [literally] hacked up cable, thus, we only had the left channel.

So, we mapped the right channel to the left speaker, and all the sounds were there! :P

    What a weekend!

It was a blast to get to meet everyone face to face, especially the folks I’ve been yacking at / with for the last four years.

I’ve updated my website with smaller (more web-appropriate sized) photos of waltercon, and tried to get names to all the faces in the photos.

Let me know if I screwed up anyones name, I’m teribble with names.

Hey, Bryan, I’m going to put a link to that page of yours in my ZetaNews story. Let me know if that’s not okay. My own pics are few and bad. (you’d think I could have done better, having all that schooling in professional photography and all - pfft)
