BeNews is back up. Sorta. Their server has been down for 3 weeks, and it was determined that their perl interpreter was breaking under the load of their forums and commenting system. As such, they are both disabled until they can be fixed. Meanwhile, the begroovy servers, which were also down, still have no email capability. We are still trying to fix it, as we lost one of our partitions in the crash. In any case, I am sure both servers will sort out their problems and get back up to speed quickly. In the meantime, feel free to use our forums instead. We are glad to see BeNews back, and look forward to reading more about OS news. Oh wait… i mean BeOS News. 😉

BeMail.org
Doh! My development partner uses BeMail.org as his e-mail address. I have no other way to get a hold of him. 🙁

Re: BeMail.org
I am hassling the host daily. We lost our /etc partition in the crash, thus all of our logins and things died. It took us a while just to reaccess the box via ssh. We are literally trying to rebuild our user structures/email accounts/etc behind the scenes while the rest of the system keeps serving.
I don’t know to what extent it has been completed, but i have seen changes happening frequently. I feel horrible about all these problems, and will try to stop them from happening in the future.
The fact that I have about 100000 other things going on at once doesnt help. :-/

Re: BeMail.org
Galley,
I had similar problems, but you can just go to http://mail.bigmailbox.com/users/bemailorg/ and log in normally.

Thanks, I wonder if Vitaliy knows that.
I’m sick of hard drives
We need a damn solid-state, reliable alternative.
