Websites Down But Not Out

Just a quick note to let everyone know that some sites that are currently down are not out. Maverick has stated that he’s having server problems for BeOS Central, and is working on it. And a couple of my domains, now maintained by others, are not gone as they seem. i-BUG.org has expired, as my contact info was old, and I didn’t get the notices. The payment has been submitted. And the Neo-Programmer’s Collective (neo-programmers.com) is moving servers, and we are having a few - um - hiccups. They’ll be back.

    keep theme

You may as well keep the current theme on beoscentral.com. I mean, summer is halfway over, and stores will begin stocking thanksgiving and xmas stuff soon. :)

    Re: keep theme

Its all part of the master plan. :-) I think that we were the first BeOS news site to do the seasons thing. But alas, I have not been able to access the back-end to change the banner. Oh well, I will make up for it by bringing new apps to BeOS. :-)

ditto, Jason :-) You mentionned this pet project of yours quite a few times and I’m curious as well.. provided the release date is close enough that you can talk freely of course!

(say, it’s not an html editor at least huh)

    Pet Project

Well, you will be happy to know that it is not an HTML editor. It also has nothing to do with pets…LOL. It does happen to be the first of four big projects from my team.(yep I have a team) I will give you a hint. The companies name is an middle english term for a winch(no not wench) it won’t be super obvious, you may have to search a bit, but that is half the fun. If you find our site, keep watching it as it begins to take shape.

    Good Luck, and no cheating.

    No Spoiling It for Others

This means that if you find the site, you don’t post it. It lets others enjoy the thrill of the search. :-)

    Nope, not Yahoo…LOL

Congrads on finding it. Glad to hear that you like it. We are hoping to raise the bar a bit with our site and our products. :-) Keep watching the site become more robust and user friendly.

    Re: Pet Project

oh cr*p here goes another potential opportunity of ‘recruiting’ people for my page editor project then! Seriously though, guess I’ll have to wait patiently as I’m not skilled enough in English to guess, but I have all the patience that’s needed :) (learnt to during the “Amiga will revive!” period, and now with this looong lingering of Be lethargia :-)

    They will not be back

Why would they come back? BOSC is particular was a flaming wreck before it sank, so pulling it out of the water is not going to help.

Better to have all new BeOS sites, here are ideas but note I did not check if these are already registered.

Boneless.com - daily rumours about whether Bone will be released to the public, including BeOS users claiming that it is faster/ better/ easier to use than all the other NON-vapourware IP stacks on other operating systems.
Run by “BeYourself” on BeOS, this site is often up twice a day for five or ten minutes at a time.

Be3dimensional.com - a similar site for the 2nd generation OpenGL implementation from Be. With a giant luminous progress bar highlighting progress to GL suite compliance (stopped at 90%) AND every day a “screenshot” done with the BeOS port of PovRay labelled “How it might look”

BeGoingNow.net - a community site for people who want to leave BeOS. Message boards are full of weenies flaming those who try to leave. The site runs on OpenBSD and the admins have secretly all stopped running the BeOS THREE YEARS AGO.

see, trolls can be at least semi-funny when they really try hard to! Nearly entertaining.
