As the sun sets on the far side of the world and rises on this side, a new year is upon us. It is with a heavy heart that we say good-bye to 2004 on such a low note (see Haiku News for more info). We move in 2005 with high hopes of continued progress on Haiku, Java, and BeZilla. We would also like to send out our best wishes to all the great members of the incredible BeOS community. Take care everyone and continued success in all your endeavors!
The Forums are back online, slicker and faster than ever. No data was lost in the migration. We might modify the look a slight bit, but otherwise we are operational. In the process, I cleaned out the user database, removing well over 2000 inactive user accounts. Basically, if you haven’t logged in for over a year, or you have posted less than 2 times in the past year, you were removed. If I have inadvertantly removed someone that shouldn’t have been, sorry. I have also given moderation privileges to some of the long time users, so that we can control spam threads and the like better. Enjoy!
So here you are… due to some circumstances that forced us to move faster than planned on creating the new BeGroovy (is it 4.0 or 5.0? I’ve lost count over the past 6 years), it is not quite finished as far as the asthetics. This was rather a temporary mockup that was pushed through to completion. We have new logo’s and colors we are looking over and debating still. So, the look will likely change as we move along, but the new engine is in place, and commenting should work again now with less spam (Spam Lite? ). Also, if you have links to submit for the left column, send them in.
Anyhooos… let’s just call this version BeGroovy 4.0 - and we are still shooting for our own “Maui 4.5″ with a snappier look to it. Enjoy.
As you can see, due to a PHP bug the Begroovy forums are temporarily down. We are currently working hard to get them back online. We will announce their return once the forums are back online. So until then, bear with us and we apologize for any inconveniences.
UPDATE: We’ve gotten them back online. However, we’ll be migrating to new forums soon, so expect some outages again, except this time planned.
As many of you have noticed, Begroovy has become a resort hot spot for SPAMMERS. Well since it has become very annoying to continuously filter out the junk that’s posted in the comments section of every news article here, we have decided to lockdown the commenting privileges so no more SPAM can be posted.
If Begroovy readers would like to post a comment regarding a specific article, you may do so by posting your comment in the Begroovy forums in the News Discussion section with the title of the news article you are commenting on.
Please note that this is only temporary.
I received word that the Canadian BUG BeOS EH! is back online.
For all those that have links to the Canadian BUG, please change your links with the following new web address: http://beoseh.neo-programmers.net
