Over at the Pixel32 page, Pavel made an update regarding the progress of Pixel32 RC2.
Today, he completed his LiveEffect engine for layers and started implementing layer effects like Glow, Drop shadow, Emboss, etc.
All these new additions will be in the RC2 release which will be available by the end of this week. This release will be available as a public demo and as a full version for members.
You can view a screenshot here of the Outer glow and Inner glow effects being used on a sample image.
Pixel32 is progressing very well and is looking better every new release. Great work Pavel!
*UPDATE*
Pavel posted two more screenshots here and here of Pixel32 demonstrating the new LiveEffects engine and the newly added layer effects being used on an image.
Also, there is an article by the Czech Computer magazine which compares Pixel32 to other Image editing apps such as Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Corel Photo-Paint, the GIMP and Ulead Photoimpact. You can see a scanned version of the article over here in the Press Section of the Pixel32 webpage. It seems that Pixel32 does pretty well against other popular Image Editing software out there since it received a score of 8/10.
Zetanews has some info regarding yellowTab’s zemag magazine for Zeta which went online recently. Some articles from the magazine are available for download in PDF format. The magazine is in German, and as far as I know it’s not available in any other language, but you can try translating the pages with Bablefish I suppose. All the links and downloads can be found at the Zetanews webpage or the zemag webpage.
Over at Qube.ru, a new Russian BeOS Wiki page is being made. There isn’t much info there yet since it just started, but there is some info regarding a BeOS distro called BeOS Russian Edition. You can find the download on the Wiki page. It will be a knowledge base available in Russian containing all sorts of questions and anwsers and documentation relating to BeOS. Like I mentioned in a previous post, it’s good to see more and more sites developing pages and making BeOS info and resources available in different languages. I hope this new BeOS WIki page works out well.
*Update*: Note that the “BeOS Russian Edition” is currently a test-only distro. (Thanks ivan for the tip)
