Free Banner Services

Just wanted to put out a little reminder about banners.beunited.org. It’s a free banners service for BeOS related sites hosted by beunited.org. If you have a BeOS related site, or a site that may be of interest to BeOS users, you can put a banner up at no cost. It is _asked_ that you put the banner service somewhere in your web pages (top, bottom, wherever), and you use BeOS friendly banners (no punching monkey javascript, for those of you that remember that incident ;) ). They are screened, and non-BeOS accounts are removed from rotation. There are quite a few people displaying this banner service, but very little in the way of sites promoting themselves through the service. Webmasters - make use of it. Enjoy. :)

Deej’s Rant

OS Wars

Sometimes I think this community just demands too much, expects too much, but contributes so little other than flack. Lately, the community has been fragmenting and infighting way too much to be in a healthy state. Disbelief. Disent among the ranks. The loss of values we once held dear. The ship has sunk. Get over it.

Sometimes I just get in the mood to rant a little bit, and I haven’t ranted in quite a while. Now would be one of those times. :) Take it at face value and with a grain of salt.

Ok, so I noticed over on the BeFree site, there is a news item up about this post on the BeFree mailing list. The post is to announce that a new os called Rolling is under development. It is based on the linux system architecture, but will follow the BeUnited RFC’s, and will use BeFree as a gui. According to Simon Gauvin of BeUnitedin a followup list post, “this will generate a LOT of discussion among people” - But I haven’t seen any. So maybe it’s time for the discussion to kick in.

What are your thoughts on this new OSBOS?
