Ok. So OpenBeOS has been promising a vote on a new name for a long long time. Thousands of names were submitted, and they narrowed them down to fifteen candidates. They are:

Auros, Begin, Dysis, Firebox, Firefly, Forge, Haiku, Indigo, Infinity, Jaffa, Mantis, Menlo, Nemo, Nova, Terra

Interesting. In a move that caused people to call us biased, we recommend Haiku or Firefly as the only names that don’t completely suck, with Menlo almost eeking out of suckage. The rest must die, for many reasons.. Such as:

• Nova - Means “No Go” in spanish. Stupid.
• Terra - I believe Microsoft already uses this name, thank you very much.
• Auros - Isn’t the amiga replacement Aros? Kinda similar, eh?
• Jaffa - Too similar to a certain character from a Disney flick.
• Nemo - Too Pixar.
• Dysis - too STD.
• Firebox - too STD. (yes, i am filthy. cope)
• Begin - Ok. I started. Now what?

Anyway, most of this is meant in good fun, and to urge people to vote for Firefly or Haiku (neither of which I suggested initially.. i just like them best of the choices). That said, you can pick 5, and it IS your vote. So vote for your prefs, and I am sure things will turn out great.
