Adamation

This just in from Adamation:

Citing technical issues, a shortage of solid information from Be, and the
current upset of tech markets, Adamation today announced that they have
decided not to release personalStudio 2.0 for BeOS. In an Open Letter
posted to their site, the company also announced that they would no longer
offer personalStudio 1.5 for sale or trial download. The personalStudio
entry at BeBits has been removed, along with all download links on the
Adamation web site. Support for personalStudio 1.5 will be discontinued on
May 31, and registered pS 1.5 users have been provided with free upgrade
keys for the Windows 2.0 version.

They give more reasons in their open letter. All I can say is at least they are decisive about it. Thats more than I can say for some companies. :(

Playin

So, first off, Like Deej said, I am graduating tommorrow, and gonna be down for the count for a week or two while I get life sorted out. As such, I want to release a rather large project before I go. Ages ago, David Powell and I started working together on a port of the most addictive game ever under the banner of BeGroovy Software. Well, it’s done and polished, and its here. Get elastomania from the mostly-incomplete website now!!! Alternatively, grab it from BeBits to raise our stats. :) Elasto Mania is a motorbike simulation game based on a real physics model. It plays as a skill/puzzle game version of trial biking, but is infinitely more addicting. :) In the future we will be adding windowed mode, as well as a BeOS-centered elasto mania site… but I have decided not to hold off on the release until those are ready. :) So enjoy!

I’mmmm Baaaccckkk!!!! :D

Site News

“Howdy Capt’n Talbos… Messa Back!”

Well, after a very long period of not posting news to BeGroovy, I’m back. As most of you know, I was once a very active BeGroovy member/founder, but was required by a certain job to not post news to BeGroovy. Well, as I’m sure most of you have heard, I no longer am held under those obligations.

Nutcase is graduating this week, and will be on vacation (without a computer) for a while… so, in his absence, he asked me to come back aboard and cover for him, keeping the site active, while he’s gone. When he returns, I’ll still stick around, rest assured.

It’s good to be back. :)

Sony _does_ do OS’s

Petition

So Sony, after stating that a game console does not need an OS, has responded to a petition to put Linux on the PS/2. Over on Slashdot, there’s a story about how a petition signed by 6000 people got Sony to begin work on a Linux for it’s Playstation 2 game console. The Beta will be available for $200 to 1000 people (it includes some hardware to make the PS/2 more “PC-like”).

What does this mean to us? Well, I hope it means that either (a) Sony is interested in purchasing Be to possibly put BeOS on the PS/2 as well, or (b) we could petition Sony (and, I guess, Be, as Sony couldn’t do it by themselves) to try the same.

Don’t know. But it _could_ spell good things to come (trying not to start nasty rumors here, so take it at face value).
